This project was run over the course of 30 months between 2010 and 2012, involving researchers from two of RGU's research centres: the Centre for International Labour Market Studies (CILMS) and the Institute for Management, Governance and Society (IMaGeS). The project team included David Gibbons-Wood, Iain MacLeod and Elizabeth Tait. The project examined the way in which skills use can be maximised in the oil and gas industry, laying the foundations for an evaluative study of the way in which specific skills utilisation practices operate in an oil and gas context. Funding for the project came from the Scottish Funding Council (Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council) as part of a broader array of projects addressing the Scottish Government's "Maximising the Impact of Skills" agenda.
